ये त्वा॑हि॒हत्ये॑ मघव॒न्नव॑र्ध॒न्ये शा॑म्ब॒रे ह॑रिवो॒ ये गवि॑ष्टौ। ये त्वा॑ नू॒नम॑नु॒मद॑न्ति॒ विप्राः॒ पिबे॑न्द्र॒ सोमं॒ सग॑णो म॒रुद्भिः॑॥
ye tvāhihatye maghavann avardhan ye śāmbare harivo ye gaviṣṭau | ye tvā nūnam anumadanti viprāḥ pibendra somaṁ sagaṇo marudbhiḥ ||
ये। त्वा॒। अ॒हि॒ऽहत्ये॑। म॒घ॒ऽव॒न्। अव॑र्धन्। ये। शा॒म्ब॒रे। ह॒रि॒वः॒। ये। गोऽइ॑ष्टौ। ये। त्वा॒। न्न॒म्। अ॒नु॒ऽमद॑न्ति। विप्राः॑। पिब॑। इ॒न्द्र॒। सोम॑म्। सऽग॑णः। म॒रुत्ऽभिः॑॥

हे हरिवो मघवन्निन्द्र ! ये विप्रास्त्वा त्वां मरुद्भिः सह सूर्य्योऽहिहत्ये शाम्बरइवाऽवर्द्धन् ये गविष्टौ त्वा त्वामवर्धन् ये युद्धे नूनमनुमदन्ति ये च सर्वान्रक्षन्त्यानन्दयन्ति तैः मरुद्भिः सह सगणः सन् सोमं पिब ॥४॥

The duties of the rulers are further elaborated.
O prosperous Indra (giver of prosperity) ! you have good steads and staff, along with the wisemen and brave persons. They help you in any conflict with the obstructor of happiness, like the clouds, and co-operate in the propagation of knowledge and gladden and encourage you in the battle. They protect and delight all, drink the Soma (juice in the form of milk and ghee) in the company of the group of the Maruts (heroes) and friends who are powerful like the winds.
