तं शु॒भ्रम॒ग्निमव॑से हवामहे वैश्वान॒रं मा॑त॒रिश्वा॑नमु॒क्थ्य॑म्। बृह॒स्पतिं॒ मनु॑षो दे॒वता॑तये॒ विप्रं॒ श्रोता॑र॒मति॑थिं रघु॒ष्यद॑म्॥
taṁ śubhram agnim avase havāmahe vaiśvānaram mātariśvānam ukthyam | bṛhaspatim manuṣo devatātaye vipraṁ śrotāram atithiṁ raghuṣyadam ||
तम्। शु॒भ्रम्। अ॒ग्निम्। अव॑से। ह॒वा॒म॒हे॒। वै॒श्वा॒न॒रम्। मा॒त॒रिश्वा॑नम्। उ॒क्थ्य॑म्। बृह॒स्पति॑म्। मनु॑षः। दे॒वऽता॑तये। विप्र॑म्। श्रोता॑रम्। अति॑थिम्। र॒घु॒ऽस्यद॑म्॥

फिर उसी विषय को अगले मन्त्र में कहा है।

पुनस्तमेव विषयमाह।
हे मनुष्या मनुषो देवतातये रघुष्यदं विप्रं श्रोतारमतिथिमिव यमवसे मातरिश्वानमुक्थ्यं बृहस्पतिं वैश्वानरं शुभ्रमग्निं हवामहे तं यूयमपि विजानीत ॥२॥

The attributes of fire are stated.
O men you should also acquire the knowledge of that Agni thoroughly (in the form of electricity etc.), which we thoughtful persons accept for our protection. That element is active, responds to our supplications, genius guest, and pervading the firmament. Praiseworthy, protector of the earth and other worlds, the benefactor of mankind and is radiant. We accept and utilize it for the attainment of divine virtues.
