यज॑स्व वीर॒ प्र वि॑हि मनाय॒तो भ॒द्रं मनः॑ कृणुष्व वृत्र॒तूर्ये॑। ह॒विष्कृ॑णुष्व सु॒भगो॒ यथास॑सि॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पते॒रव॒ आ वृ॑णीमहे॥
yajasva vīra pra vihi manāyato bhadram manaḥ kṛṇuṣva vṛtratūrye | haviṣ kṛṇuṣva subhago yathāsasi brahmaṇas pater ava ā vṛṇīmahe ||
यज॑स्व। वी॒र॒। प्र। वि॒हि॒। म॒ना॒य॒तः। भ॒द्रम्। मनः॑। कृ॒णु॒ष्व॒। वृ॒त्र॒ऽतूर्ये॑। ह॒विः। कृ॒णु॒ष्व॒। सु॒ऽभगः॑। यथा॑। अस॑सि। ब्रह्म॑णः। पतेः॑। अवः॑। आ। वृ॒णी॒म॒हे॒॥
स्वामी दयानन्द सरस्वती
फिर उसी विषय को अगले मन्त्र में कहा है।
हरिशरण सिद्धान्तालंकार
भद्रं मनः कृणुष्व
स्वामी दयानन्द सरस्वती
पुनस्तमेव विषयमाह।
हे वीर त्वं ब्रह्मणस्पतेर्मनायतो जनाद्विद्याः प्रविहि। धर्मं यजस्व भद्रं मनः कृणुष्व सुभगः सन् वृत्रतूर्ये हविः कृणुष्व यथा त्वमससि तथा वयमव आ वृणीमहे ॥२॥

The duties of the learned are further elaborated.
O pupil | you are endowed with fine virtues and you should perform noble deeds. While leading your life in accordance with the Vedic dictates, you should get at the thorough knowledge from those who first conceive and then act thoughtfully. In the company of pious persons and keeping your mind pure, you should always conduct welfare activities. Thus nicely prosperous, you should give away the wealth at the site of the battle. Emulating your example, we seek and accept your protectives.
