प्र सु विश्वा॑न्र॒क्षसो॒ धक्ष्य॑ग्ने॒ भवा॑ य॒ज्ञाना॑मभिशस्ति॒पावा॑। अथा व॑ह॒ सोम॑पतिं॒ हरि॑भ्यामाति॒थ्यम॑स्मै चकृमा सु॒दाव्ने॑ ॥
pra su viśvān rakṣaso dhakṣy agne bhavā yajñānām abhiśastipāvā | athā vaha somapatiṁ haribhyām ātithyam asmai cakṛmā sudāvne ||

पुनः स कीदृश इत्युपदिश्यते ॥
हे अग्ने ! यतस्त्वं विश्वान् रक्षसः प्रधक्षि तस्मादेव यज्ञानामभिशस्तिपावा भव। यथा सूर्यो हरिभ्यां सोमपतिं वहति तथैश्वर्यमावहाऽथातोऽस्मै सुदाव्ने तुभ्यमातिथ्यं चकृम ॥ ३ ॥

How is Agni is taught further in the third mantra.
O President of the Assembly, punisher of the wicked, as you burn all wicked persons or evils, therefore you are protector from all violence of the Yajnas which accomplish all knowledge, arts and industries etc. As the sun leads by his power of upholding and attraction to the Lord of all wealth, in the same manner, you should lead men to prosperity. Therefore we honour you who are the giver of knowledge, humility, good education and kingdom of the State.
