फिर भी अगले मन्त्र में ईश्वर के गुणों का उपदेश किया है ॥
पदार्थान्वयभाषाः - हे (अग्ने) सब सुख प्राप्त करनेवाले जगदीश्वर ! जिस कारण (अन्तर्विद्वान्) अन्तःकरण के सब व्यवहारों को तथा (विद्वान्) बाहर के कार्य्यों को जाननेवाले (अतन्द्रः) आलस्यरहित (हविर्वाट्) विज्ञान आदि प्राप्त करानेवाले आप (क्षितीनाम्) मनुष्यों के (वयुनानि) विज्ञानों को (जीवसे) जीवन के लिये (शुरुधः) प्राप्त करने योग्य सुखों को (आनुषक्) अनुकूलतापूर्वक (वि धाः) विविध प्रकार से धारण करते हो, वेदद्वारा (देवयानान्) विद्वानों के जाने-आनेवाले (अध्वनः) मार्गों के (दूतः) विज्ञान करानेवाले (अभवः) होते हो, इससे आपका सत्कार हम लोग अवश्य करें ॥ ७ ॥
भावार्थभाषाः - इस मन्त्र में श्लेषालङ्कार है। जो प्रार्थना वा सेवन किया हुआ ईश्वर धर्ममार्ग वा विज्ञान को दिखाकर सुखों को देता है, उनका सेवन अवश्य करना चाहिये ॥ ७ ॥

देवयानमार्ग का उपदेश
पदार्थान्वयभाषाः - १. हे (अग्ने) = सब उन्नतियों के साधक प्रभो ! आप (क्षितीनाम्) = मनुष्यों के (वयुनानि) = प्रज्ञानों व कर्मों को [ऋ० ५/४८/२ पर द०] (विद्वान्) = जानते हुए (शुरुधः) = [क्षुद्रूपस्य शोकस्य रोधयित्रीरिषः - सा०] भूखरूपी शोक को दूर करनेवाले अन्नों को (आनुषक्) = निरन्तर (जीवसे) = जीवन के लिए (विधाः) = विशेषरूप से धारण करते हैं । प्रभु हमारे कर्मों और प्रज्ञानों को जानते हुए उनके अनुसार ही हमें अन्न प्राप्त कराते हैं, जिनका प्रयोग करते हुए हम अभाव के कष्ट से ऊपर उठकर जीवन को उन्नत करने में समर्थ होते हैं । २. हे प्रभो ! (अन्तः) = अन्तः स्थित हुए - हुए आप (देवयानान् अध्वनः) = देवताओं से चलने योग्य मार्गों को (विद्वान्) = जानते हुए (अतन्द्रः) = आलस्यशून्य, (दूतः) = उन मार्गों का सन्देश देनेवाले (अभवः) = होते हैं । हृदयस्थरूपेण वे प्रभु हमें निरन्तर उत्तम मार्गों का ज्ञान दे रहे हैं । इस प्रेरणारूप कार्य में प्रभु कभी आलस्य व प्रमाद नहीं करते । वे प्रभु हमें इन मार्गों का ज्ञान देते हुए, मार्गस्थ व्यक्तियों के लिए (हविः वाट्) = हवि को प्राप्त कराते हैं । इन व्यक्तियों के लिए प्रभुकृपा से यज्ञीय पदार्थों की कभी कमी नहीं रहती ।
भावार्थभाषाः - भावार्थ - प्रभुकृपा से हमें उत्तम अन्न प्राप्त होते हैं । प्रभु हमें देवयान - मार्गों का उपदेश करते हैं और हमें हविर्द्रव्य प्राप्त कराते हैं ।

हे अग्ने ! यतोऽन्तर्विद्वान् बहिर्विद्वानतन्द्रो हविर्वाट् त्वं क्षितीनां वयुनानि जीवसे शुरुध आनुषक् वि धाः, देवयानानध्वनो दूतोऽभवस्तस्मात्पूज्यतमोऽसि ॥ ७ ॥

भावार्थभाषाः - अत्र श्लेषालङ्कारः। यः प्रार्थितो सेवित ईश्वरो विद्वान् वा धर्म्यमार्गं विज्ञानं प्रदर्श्य सुखानि ददाति स कथं न सेवनीयः ॥ ७ ॥

The attributes of God are taught in the seventh Mantra.
अन्वय:
O God, Source of all true happiness, Thou being Omniscient, knowest all within [the minds of the beings] and without [their acts] and ever diligent and watchful, providest for the sustenance of men grief-alleviating good knowledge and food which give them happiness. Thou teachest [through the Vedas] the right path which all enlightened persons should follow. Therefore Thou art worthy of adoration.
पदार्थान्वयभाषाः - (क्युनानि) विज्ञानानि = Knowledge and act.
(शुरुधु:) प्राप्तव्यानि सुखानि
= The happiness which should be attained or grief-alleviating.
=(दूतः ) विज्ञापकः = Teacher or Giver of knowledge.
(हविर्वाद) विज्ञानादिप्रपाकः
= Causing the attainment of knowledge etc.
भावार्थभाषाः - (1) Why should not God be adored who when prayed to shows the path of righeousness and thus gives happiness?
(2) Why should not a wise learned man be respected who when served gives knowledge and thus makes people happy ?
टिप्पणी: Therefore Rishi Dayananda Sarasvati has interpreted as विज्ञानानि दूतः is derived from दु-गतौ म्वा गतेस्त्रयोऽर्थाः गमनं प्राप्तिश्च । Taking the first and the third meaning Rishi Dayananda has interpreted it as fa: It is noteworthy that both Prof. Wilson and Griffith translate the epithets used for Agni in the Mantra which are applicable only to an Omniscient Supreme Being. For instance, Prof: Wilson translates विद्वां अग्नेक्युनानि क्षितीनाम् "Agni who art cognizant of all things to be known."(Wilson).अन्तर्विद्वां अध्वनो देवयानान् is translated by him as “Knowing the paths between (earth and heaven) by which they (gods) travel. (Wilson). Are such epithets applicable for the material fire ? Griffith's translation of the first stanza is "Thou", Agni knower of men's works. The third stanza is translated by him as "Thou deeply skilled in paths of Gods." (Griffith).Though the word a as usual has been wrongly translated by both as "gods" or "Gods" which Rishi Dayananda has interpreted as विद्वांस: on the authority of विद्वांसो हि देवा: (शतपथ ३.७.३.९०) and other passages in the Brahmanas, their own translation clearly shows that Agni stands here for an Omniscient Supreme Being and not for inaminate material fire. Rishi Dayananda Sarasvati's interpretation is therefore correct.
