आ यद्धरी॑ इन्द्र॒ विव्र॑ता॒ वेरा ते॒ वज्रं॑ जरि॒ता बा॒ह्वोर्धा॑त्। येना॑विहर्यतक्रतो अ॒मित्रा॒न्पुर॑ इ॒ष्णासि॑ पुरुहूत पू॒र्वीः ॥
ā yad dharī indra vivratā ver ā te vajraṁ jaritā bāhvor dhāt | yenāviharyatakrato amitrān pura iṣṇāsi puruhūta pūrvīḥ ||
आ। यत्। हरी॒ इति॑। इ॒न्द्र॒। विऽव्र॑ता। वेः। आ। ते॒। वज्र॑म्। ज॒रि॒ता। बा॒ह्वोः। धा॒त्। येन॑। अ॒वि॒ह॒र्य॒त॒क्र॒तो॒ इत्य॑विहर्यतऽक्रतो। अ॒मित्रा॑न्। पुरः॑। इ॒ष्णासि॑। पु॒रु॒ऽहू॒त॒। पू॒र्वीः ॥

पुनः सभाद्यध्यक्षगुणा उपदिश्यन्ते ॥
हे अविहर्यतक्रतो पुरुहूतेन्द्र सभाद्यध्यक्ष ! त्वं यद्यस्माद्विव्रतो हरी आवेः समन्ताद् विद्धि। येनामित्रान् हंसि येन शत्रूणां पूर्वीः पुर इष्णासि तत्पराजयाय स्वविजयाभीक्ष्णं गच्छसि तस्माज्जरिता ते तव बाह्वोराश्रयेण वज्रमाधाद्दधाति ॥ २ ॥

The attributes of Indra ( President of the Assembly etc. ) are taught in the 2nd Mantra.
O Indra (President of the Assembly or the Commander of the Army etc.). O man of agreeable intellect and acts, glorified and invoked by many, thou knowest and preservest well the army and the light of justice which remove all evil conduct and protect various vows. Thou assailest thine enemies and destroyest their numerous cities for gaining victory over them by defeating them. Therefore thy admirer also bears thunderbolt or strong weapons in his arms by taking shelter in thee or urged by thee.
