आ हि ष्मा॑ सू॒नवे॑ पि॒तापिर्यज॑त्या॒पये॑। सखा॒ सख्ये॒ वरे॑ण्यः॥
ā hi ṣmā sūnave pitāpir yajaty āpaye | sakhā sakhye vareṇyaḥ ||
आ। हि। स्म॒। सू॒नवे॑। पि॒ता। आ॒पिः। यज॑ति। आ॒पये॑। सखा॑। सख्ये॑। वरे॑ण्यः॥
स्वामी दयानन्द सरस्वती
फिर वह किस प्रकार का है, इस विषय का उपदेश अगले मन्त्र में किया है॥

पुनः स कीदृश इत्युपदिश्यते।
हे मनुष्या ! यथा पिता सूनवे सखा सख्य आपिरापय आयजति, तथैवान्योऽयं सम्प्रीत्या कार्याणि संसाध्य हि ष्म सर्वोपकाराय यूयं सङ्गच्छध्वम्॥३॥

How is that Agni is further taught in the third Mantra.
(1) When addressed to God the meaning is clear. Thou O Omniscient God art verily as a loving father to a son, as a kinsman giving happiness to a virtuous kinsman, as the most acceptable friend to a friend. (2) Omen, as a father behaves towards to his son, as a kinsman causing happiness to his virtuous kinsman and as a good friend to his friend, in the same way, you should behave in a friendly manner towards another and having accomplished all tasks, should be united for the welfare of all.
